Why the name “Updraft Counseling”?
In my earliest childhood memory, I am sitting in a grocery cart in a store parking lot while my mom is loading bags into the back of the our minivan. I am looking up at the sky and watching the clouds when I suddenly realize the clouds are moving. I remember thinking this seemed huge, and I wondered if my mom knew.
I’ve been staring up at the clouds ever since. I love watching the sky change, and it lends itself well to metaphors to mood, mental health, and overall well-being: we go through storms, the sky changes, and the clouds part.
As a basic meteorological definition, an “updraft” or upward moving air current characterizes a storm’s early development. Updrafts can feel like tension-building stage, or a signal that something is coming. I want to be available to people as they sense that change is coming. Sometimes a storm can feel cleansing, and you emerge on the other side feeling differently.
You don’t have to do it alone. Let’s connect today to see if we would be a good fit.
